Review: ORIBE Moisture and Control Shampoo and Conditioner

I was really lucky to get the Oribe Shampoo and Conditioner for Moisture and Control as a gift this year from my lovely mommy. It was so thoughtful of her, especially because she knows I love trying new beauty products.

The packaging does look really luxurious and lovely (although since the conditioner's not transparent, it's kind of hard to know when you'll finish it), and you only need a bit of each product to do the job. If you wash your hair every other day and use the small amount of product that's necessary with these (only about a quarter sized dollop of each product), you'll have these for quite a while.

I usually go for sulphate-free shampoos and conditioners, not only because it's good for your hair, but I don't want the sulphates to run down my face and alkaline my skin. I still wanted to try these though to see if they were worth the price.

As far as smell goes, I don't find these smell particularly good. The conditioner's less smelly than the shampoo, but it's still not a scent I enjoy using in the shower.

I do find that my hair looked really healthy and shiny after using these, however, since the water at my apartment in France is really hard, I did have a slight dandruff problem when using these. I don't think that'll be a problem for those of you in soft water households, but if you have hard water, the combo of the sulfates in the shampoo and your water could give you a flaky problem.

So on that note, are these worth the hefty price tag? I'd say no. I'll finish them up, but they're not worth purchasing, especially when my favorite sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner of all-time, Free Your Mane, cost 16 bucks a bottle as opposed to 37.
