Lust Lust: Herbalism, Fresh Farmacy, Coalface, and Ocean Salt

Just a warning, this is more of a negative review for these products. What may not work for me may work for you though, so if you’ve been wanting to try these products, just give them a go.

Also, for reference, I have oily skin that sometimes will get dry patches in the winter. I sampled these products because these cleansers are supposed to be great for skin types like mine, and I was at a point in my life at which I wanted all my products to be Lush, so I got a ton of skincare samples. In the end though, a completely Lush routine isn’t practical.
Herbalism was straight-up horrible for me. First of all, it smells disgusting. It also barely scrubs: it’s just chunks of almond that don’t do anything but wash down the drain. The residue is so bad, that after I washed my face with this, when I ran my nail down the side of my nose, there were green, oily leftovers stuck under my fingernail. I had to wash and scrub the grime off, which completely defeats the purpose. It's also very messy. I wouldn't use it outside of the shower if I were you. There's a Lush cleanser that is worth the mess, but that's a separate review.
Fresh Farmacy
Fresh Farmacy also left me with residue issues and breakouts. The only thing I did like about this is that the bar is very creamy, has a nice lather, and dries quickly on the soap dish (no mushy mess), and lasts forever. I didn’t like the smell at first, but I got used to it. Then it broke me out, so I binned my sample. A lot of people swear by this though, so if you want to try this out, go for it. I think that if you liked this, it's true bang for your buck.
Coalface
Coalface was a miss for me because it left a residue. It didn’t break me out because I just washed my face after to get rid of the residue anyway. Since I have to wash my face after, again, that defeats the purpose of a non-exfoliating cleanser. Again, I did appreciate the bar form, it was long lasting, etc. It also smells so good. A little bit like my beloved Dark Angels: nice and licorice-y. I ended up finishing my sample as a soap for my body.
Ocean Salt is an awesome exfoliator. However, I didn’t like using it on my face at all. It completely dissolves if you use too much water, which wastes product. I’d use this as a scrub only and wash it off with a cleanser, so it’s not like it’s a waste of money if used correctly. I love this stuff for everywhere (especially the hands) but the face, believe me. But it’s hard to take on your face because the smell is so strong, and it is a bit irritating. Salt is also comedogenic apparently. It dries your face out and makes everything harden in your pores, thus clogging them. So I kind of got scared of using this on my face. This also doesn’t last long for the money, because it dries out quickly into a non-usable crust. Dissappointing.

In the end, as much as I love Lush, these are products that I don’t think I could ever spend my money on. I love Lush products, but I’m not the kind of person now that has to only use Lush things and nothing else. I use Lush stuff because a lot of it is very effective in the end and worth the money because they’re better than other stuff out there. Just make sure you always sample before you buy their skincare!

I do have some positive skin care reviews coming, so look out for those.

Lush Lust: Bubble Bars review

The Lush Bubble Bars are seriously the best bubble bath ever. Nothing else compares. They also smell amazing, and who can hate no packaging? You just break off a piece of the bar, crumble it under a fast running tap, and sit back and relax. I usually find a little piece of bar goes a long way in my little tub. These are the ones I’ve tried:
Dorothy
Dorothy: This is my second favorite bubble bar, but trust me, it’s a very close second. I love Dorothy. It smells exactly like Figs and Leaves soap, which is a very soft floral. It turns the water blue, but I use the rainbow part separately, and that’ll make the water yellow-orange. I got five uses out of this gem. It bubbles up so well. ($5.95/3.5 oz)
Creamy Candy Bubble Bar
Creamy Candy: This smells like Rock Star, which does smell very good, but it can get heavy and peppery at times. I got six uses out of this, and it bubbles very well. It’s very creamy and moisturizing. I just can’t see myself buying it again though because of the heavy scent and more expensive price. ($7.25/3.5 oz)
Ma Bar
Ma Bar: I love the scent of this one (it's the same as Honey I Washed the Kids). However, it didn’t bubble up well compared to the other bubble bars. I can usually get lots of very long lasting bubbles out of the other bars, but this one didn’t cut it. It also turns the water brown and isn’t very pretty. The sugar cube is alright. You can use it to scrub yourself or just let it melt into the bath to moisturize. I got four baths out of this, but it’s really only for two baths if you want a lot of bubbles. ($7.95/3.5 oz)
The Comforter
The Comforter: This is my favorite bubble bar ever. I can make this last so long: I got eleven baths out of this, some with less bubblage than others, but sufficient still. It’s huge, and so worth it for the price. It also smells divine and fruity (like Sweetie Pie shower jelly), one of my favorite scents ever. It makes my skin soft, good smelling, turns the water light pink, and makes a ton of bubbles that are really like a comforter. I love this so much. ($9.95/7 oz)
From google images
Bearded Lady: This is a special one they bring out around Christmas time. The smell reminds me of a wreath. It’s just really fresh. I love it. It has two chocolate chips for eyes which are supposed to act like mini bath melts, and it’s just overall adorable. It turns the water light red and is very softening for the skin. I got four uses out of this, but I could’ve gotten more if I hadn’t used half of it in one go in my mom’s huge bath tub. This was my first bubble bar from Lush, and it started my love for their bubble bars.

Hope this helps!

What’s your favorite bubble bar? Do you have ways to make them last a really long time?

Lush Lust: Bath Bombs!

Bath bombs are so fun. They change the water color, make you smell great, and soften the skin. They just take a bath from blah to an experience.
Honey Bee
Honeybee: One of the first bombs I’ve ever had from Lush. I have mixed feelings about this. It smells fantastic (like Honey I Washed the Kids soap) and makes your skin nice, however, it turns the bath water yellow and kind of looks like... you know. It also has Rhassoul Mud in it to purify your skin, and that gets everywhere. I just use my sprayer to clean my tub after a bath, but if you don’t have a sprayer, that would be a horrible cleanup. The mud is also very bad for your hair. I like to dunk my hair in the tub with other bombs, so I tried it with this one. Never again. It made my hair so unmanageable, stiff, and tangly. Keep your hair out of the tub with this one, and you’ll be safe. I had to wash my hair and condition it twice (two different showers) to fully recover. At least there’s no glitter. ($6.40/6.3 oz)
Butterball
Butterball: This one is often raved about, but I thought it was nothing special. I may even hate this one. It doesn’t smell that good, not bad though, and it has these little chunks of cocoa butter that melt in your bath leaving you with greasy skin and an even greasier tub to clean. If I’m taking a bath, I do it to relax. I don’t want an added stressor of having to scrub my tub later. It’s also really small. I like the big ones. Again, at least there’s no glitter. ($4.95/3.1 oz)
Golden Slumbers
Golden Slumbers: Just a lovely lavender scented bomb. This is very relaxing and puts me right to sleep. It doesn’t color the water, and it only has some golden luster on it, so it’s not too glittery and messy. I like this one. ($6.35/6.3 oz)
Blackberry
Blackberry: This is awesome because it smells like Sultana of Soap! Mmmm. I think it’s also the first bath bomb Lush has ever made, and it was one of the first bath bombs in the history of bath bombs. Fun fact, right? It’s a very rich, berry bomb that makes the water very soothing and a lovely purple color. It perfumes you well, too. No glitter. I was pleased. ($6.25/6.3 oz)
Sakura Bath Bomb
Sakura: My favorite of all the bath bombs. It smells so light and floral-y, and makes me feel like I’m in some fancy spa. It’s also extra special because it was the very first bath bomb I tried from Lush. :) Yay for sentimental value. I also like this because it leaves no residue in your bath tub. There are no surprises or glitter you have to clean up later. Sakura leaves your skin soft and subtly perfumed. It’s colorless, too by the way. ($6.35/6.3 oz)
Avobath
Avobath: This is an awesome one, and it’s one of Lush’s most popular bombs. It turns your bath water a nice, light green. Glitter-free. It makes your skin soft because Lush tosses in a bunch of avocados into the mix. It also smells great: fresh, fruity, and zingy with lemongrass. It actually smells exactly like Fruit Loops cereal... This is a good one if you’re new to Lush. ($6.25/6.3 oz)
The creator of the next three bombs is a genius. He made a really long lasting, foamy mix for the new bath bombs, and he made them color changing. So cool!
Dragon's Egg
Dragon’s Egg: This bath bomb smells great and citrusy, grapefruit especially. The fizz also lasts for ages. This will seriously fizz for at least five minutes. It’s crazy. You drop it in, and it gets really foamy at first (I think they’ve mixed bubble bar mix into it) then spins around without too much noise. What I don’t like about it is the glitter and paper bits in it. It does wash down the drain though, and what doesn’t you can spray off. But if you like that and citrus-y scents and glitter, this is for you. I found it really lovely and refreshing. This is also a color changing bomb, which is really cool. Your water goes from clear to orange. (The orange is spewed out with glitter in trails). This is a very fun bomb, and despite the glitter, I think I’d buy it again. ($5.95/6.3oz)
Fizzbanger
Fizzbanger: This is a favorite. It smells so good. They mixed the Love and B scents in so it smells like a spicy cinnamon apple (apple on the outside, spice on the inside). It turns the water green (it’s also a color changer, so it starts yellow then spews blue) and has no glitter! It does pop out a piece of paper though that says “Bang!” on it, but that’s whatever to pick out. It’s another long lasting fizzer that foams up and spins around leaving swirls of color. I really really like this one. The only downside is that it’s sort of irritating “down there” because of the spice in it. ($5.95/6.3oz)
Twilight: This bomb is so amazing I can get past the glitter. It fizzes for such a crazy long time and turns into this beautiful purple foamy thing at the start and spins around like crazy. It’s pink at first but then spews blue and glitter. It’s so gorgeous. The colors mix into this amazing dark purple, and the glitter suspends in it like stars. It’s so relaxing, too. Lavender and ovaltine. It’s rich and softening. A deep, sexy favorite. (Sorry the link is for the UK site, but I couldn't find the bath bomb on the US one). ($5.95/6.3oz)
Seasonal bombs review in case you want to give them a go when they pop up at their times of the year:
From google images, not Lush site
So White: I buy so many of these when they come out. I wish they’d make a shower gel of this scent. It seriously smells like fresh, crisp apples. It’s so fresh that it should be a year round scent, but it is nice around Christmas time in the snow. It kind of reminds me of wreaths... It’s foamy and long lasting/fizzing (even though it’s small), and it leaves the water clear and glitter free. I usually wait until the Christmas deals come out to stock up (it’s usually buy one get one).
From google images, not Lush site
Satsuma Santa: A great, citrusy Christmas bomb. It turns the water orange-y red, with no glitter. So fresh. It’s a fast fizzer though.
From google images, not Lush site
Happy Chick: I don’t know if they bring this one back every year, because it’s nothing special. This disappears instantly, and isn’t too heavily fragranced. You can barely smell it. What you can smell is nice though: it smells of grapefruit. Clear water, no glitter.

I hope this was helpful for you!

What’s your favorite bath bomb?

Lush Lust: Bath Melts Review

Lush Lust: Bath Melts
Lush makes some of the most amazing bath products, such as the bath bombs and bubble bars. They make bath melts as well, and these are really awesome for dry skinned girls in the winter. You just plop one (or one cut up into 2-4 pieces) in the bath, and it’ll melt into the water to make it really moisturizing. These are nice because you don’t need to apply lotion after your bath.
Ceridwen's Cauldron
The first melt I ever tried was Ceridwen’s Cauldron. This smells good, I think. It kind of has a plastic-y lavender scent, but I actually really like it. This is a good one because it’s got oats in it to sooth dry irritated skin, and it makes the water really milky and moisturizing. Lush says you can take the cloth full of oats once it’s all melted (since there are oats in the cocoa butter, they’re left behind after the melt is gone) and rub the oat milk over yourself to soften the skin. I went to Lush later to get more bath products one day, and the girl there told me that you can undo the tie, cut it into four chunks, and then retie it with a rubber band or a hair band (saving the other three pieces elsewhere), use it, and then dry the cloth it comes in for the other three pieces to make this last longer. I wish I knew this earlier because I chucked the whole thing in and wasted it. Lesson learned. I also wish I used smaller pieces, because I thought the whole thing made the water a bit too greasy, and the grease irritated my skin and KP. When I get this again (because it was very moisturizing and relaxing), I’ll definitely be trying the little trick out, not only to save money, but to save my skin. ($7.95/2.8 oz/4 uses)
Happy Blooming
The second melt I tried was Happy Blooming. This one is sectioned into three so that you can just break off one chunk for each bath, getting three uses out of it. This one is pretty greasy as well, but it makes the water a very lovely pink and very moisturizing. It smells kind of like the fake cherry Laffy Taffy smell, but I like that. This wasn’t irritating to me, and the smell lingers for a while. ($6.95/2.1 oz/3 uses)

These next two bath melts are my favorite because the consistency is very milky. The above bath melts are more greasy, but these get frothy and foamy when you plop them in and don’t leave the water oily, just moisturizing. You still don’t need lotion afterwards, but they’re lighter. I also got four uses out of both of them.
Floating Island
My favorite of these little cupcake-y bath melts, and favorite bath melt in general, is Floating Island. I smelled this before in a Lush store and didn’t like it, probably because there are so many conflicting scents in the Lush store, and I couldn’t smell it properly. However, upon second whiff, I was in love. It smells even better in the bath, good and creamy. It has sandalwood and lemon in it. Yum. It makes the water a nice milky white. ($7.95/3.5 oz/4 uses)
MMM Melting Marshmallow Moment
The last bath melt I’ll review for now is MMM Melting Marshmallow Moment. This has the same effect as Floating Island, except it turns the water pink. It also smells sweeter. It’s a similar scent to Creamy Candy and Rockstar, but not as strong and peppery. I think it’s better than Creamy Candy and Rockstar, really. It’s still very girly though. Again, cut this into four. ($7.95/3.5 oz/4 uses)

If you get dry in the winter, I definitely recommend giving these a go. They’re really lovely and moisturizing, and I don’t know about you, but I hate having to put on lotion after a bath, so these eliminate that step. You can also get quite the bang for your buck with these.

Do you have a favorite moisturizing bath product?

I just picked the St. Ives Green Tea Scrub up at Target the other day and have already given it a go. I usually go for the Blemish and Blackhead Apricot one, but I felt like trying something new (something which doesn't happen so often (scrub-wise) because I've used the other one for YEARS).

I actually really like this one. It smells fantastic (like green tea ice cream!), just like the Green Tea Cleanser, which is also pretty great. It's also really gentle. The grains are a lot smaller than the ones in the apricot scrubs, but even though the grains are smaller, it doesn't feel like you're rubbing one grain of sand across your face. The grains cover everywhere and give a great scrub. It made my skin super soft.

It has the same active ingredients as the B&B apricot scrub, 2% salicylic acid, so it should be just as effective on spots. The green tea in it is supposed to calm redness, too.

So basically... I love this. I don't know whether it can replace the other St. Ives one I use, but I think I'd keep both of them around or alternate or something.

What's your favorite scrub?

Lush Lust: Aromarant Deodorant

Deodorant could possibly be a weird thing to talk about, but I have no problem talking about it... Hee hee. It's necessary! Except, I do know some people who don't use it (they don't have to though... seriously, they don't have BO... Jealousy!!!!).

The one I use is Lush's Aromarant.

Unfortunately, Lush has discontinued it, which stinks! (Did you get my little joke? ^ ^)  :'( My dad uses this, too, so when we found out they were discontinuing it we went to a Lush store and bought the rest that they had... heh heh. It'll last us for a long time, luckily. We'll freeze it if we have to to keep it fresh longer. :P

This stuff is great. (I don't think I knew that until I ran out of it this one time and spent a very smelly, sweaty day studying at the library worrying about my BO. I got more though, so it's all good). It smells amazing, like soft sandalwoody/lemony dream. It reminds me of iced tea actually. It doesn't really keep you from sweating, but it completely takes care of odor.

My dad has had zero problems with this (it's his Holy Grail deodorant. He says he's never tried anything better, and he's tried a LOT). My only complaints are that it can be slightly irritating on the underarms sometimes, the bar gets scratchy due to the chunks of peel in it, and that it dries out your pits a bit. That's probably why they discontinued it... Instead of improving the formula with its amazing scent and function. -.-

It's also a bit hard to store. This is my clunky container I use to keep it from drying out. The plastic wrap I rubber-banded to it keeps it from getting on my hands. haha

Why am I even writing this post if this product is discontinued and you can't get it? So that way you can suggest something just as good! Haha sorry. Please leave suggestions in the comments for a good natural deodorant (not Aromaco though. I don't like the smell...) that's really effective and soothing! Thank you!!!

Review: Covergirl Lash Blast 24-hour

I've talked about this mascara a few times on this blog, because it's pretty awesome, I think. The formula is super black and long lasting. It doesn't clump badly at all (I find that applying kind of sideways to get a winged-out look makes sure there are no clumps), and like the name would imply, it's super volumizing! Love. The brush itself is super huge, which probably helps with its volumizing effects. Sometimes it's hard to reach the little lashes though. :/ Oh well. It's not incredibly lengthening, but it does enough.

I mentioned in my post about my everyday makeup routine that I had a love/hate relationship with this mascara. It makes your lashes look amazing and lasts forever. However, it's extremely hard to remove with regular makeup removal methods (for me, that's a makeup removing cleanser). It also smudges on the tops of the eyelids... Yikes.

Although I haven't found a way to prevent the eyelid smudging, just treating it by wiping it off with my fingers... heh, I've found a pretty effective way to take it off without pulling out every single lash! That solution is extra virgin olive oil.

This was a bit scary for me to try at first, because I have oily skin, so I cringe at using anything that contains oil on my face. But fear not! Pure extra virgin olive oil will not clog your pores! Something about the molecules being too large to do so... I even heard olive oil will break down all the little clogs anyway, so yay! Plus, the massage feels darn good and even luxurious.

(This is an old deluxe sample bottle I filled with olive oil. Yay reusing stuff!)

At night, I'll just pour a bit of olive oil in the palm of my hands, rub those together, and then massage my face for a bit. I then move my oily hands to my eyes and lightly massage and rub my lashes. I'll then wash my face and panda eyes with my regular cleanser (I cleanse a second time with my Clarisonic). Be sure to remove your face makeup before you move to your eyes so you don't wipe mascara all over your face.

Glad I found a way to cope with this mascara's problems, because I love it! Maybe they'll make a 24 hour version of the Lashblast Fusion??? Please?

Lush Lust: Honey Trap Lip Balm

Heads up: this isn't a rave. I may be the only person who strongly dislikes this lip balm, which is pretty sad because I love Lush products in general.
Honey Trap
This stuff completely dries out the lips. I was using it this winter, and I had no clue what was making my lips so dry/scaly/peely/nasty. It was Honey Trap. It's a beeswax lip balm, which is only a barrier really, not a moisturizer. Once I switched to my Desert Essence Lip Rescue, my lips were fine and soft again.
Desert Essence Lip Rescue with Shea Butter

I don't like the packaging either. I rather dislike dipping my fingers into a pot of lip balm; sticks are much better to use. It's also not a lip balm that's easy to get out of the pot. It's pretty stiff, so it doesn't transfer onto the fingers or lips easily.

The only thing positive I can say about this is that it smells amazing. That's it though.

I might finish Honey Trap eventually in the summer months when my lips aren't as dry anyway, or I might use it on my feet as a barrier between my skin and high heels. This stuff is horrible.

Not to mention this is super expensive. $6.95 for a lip balm? No thanks. It may have been worth it if it worked as well as it smells good.

What do you think about Honey Trap? I know a lot of people do like it...

Nail Love: How I do my nails

Hello! I thought it might be helpful if I gave you all an overview of how I do my nails. Sounds a bit boring but whatevs.

I first file my nails if I find they're a bit too long and get stuff from out under my nails with a Revlon filer thingy (I need a new one. The cap on mine broke off because I've had it so long).

I don't like to buff my nails, because mine are rather brittle and thin already, and buffing just makes them thinner (I also have problems with bumps when my nails grow).

If I need to, I remove my nail polish with your regular CVS acetone polish remover.

Unless I've done it recently, I'll use my Sally Hansen Cuticle Remover to make sure the dead stuff is out of the way when I want to start painting.

I then apply my Maybelline Base Coat, that I've had forever. I don't think they sell it anymore... Which means I'll find a new one, which is okay, because this wasn't holy grail anyway. Sometimes I'll apply Sally Hansen Hard as Wraps under my polish, but it's not really a great base coat. I just got it and am trying to use it up.

I apply my color of choice (number of coats depending on the polish).

On top of everything I paint on my Sally Hansen Insta-Dri topcoat, which I mentioned in my April Favorites. This stuff is absolutely fantastic. It dries so fast and leaves such a good, shiny, resin-like finish. I can't live without this.

This is a pretty short post, but I thought it was necessary. Happy nail painting!!!

Do you have a pretty specific manicure routine?

Crap: Mascaras

Sorry for the rude title, but I think it gives you the perfect warning that I think all the mascaras in this post are absolutely horrible. Whenever I run out of mascara, I like to try new ones. There are a few I'll repurchase, but it's fun to experiment, not to mention easy to do so with CVS's fantastic return policy. These are mascaras I've tried that I thought were completely horrible.

1. L'oreal Voluminous Million Lashes
L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara, Blackest Black
I heard so many good things about this mascara from youtube, but when I tried it, I just thought it clumped my lashes together so much that it made it look like I had five of them. The brush doesn't have enough spikes, I guess. It smudged like crazy on me, too, and it's really stiff when it dries.
2. Rimmel Lash Accelerator
Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara, Extreme Black 003
This is the WORST mascara of all time, I think. I wanted to like it because the packaging is so gorgeous, but in the end, it's just gimmicky crap. The wand is super thin and flimsy, making this very hard to work with, and the brush doesn't reach all your big lashes because there are these huge gaps in between bristles (it'll leave some completely uncovered). The only good thing is that it has a small brush to reach the little lashes. This mascara is pretty lengthening, but it gives ZERO volume. You really have to work hard to make this stuff look good. I mean HARD. It clumps like mad and just generally looks horrible. I could care less about the whole lash growth serum, and I didn't use this long enough to find out if it works. DO NOT BUY THIS.
3. Maybelline Lots of Lashes
Maybelline Great Lash Lots Of Lashes Washable Mascara, Blackest Black
Same deal as with the L'oreal Voluminous Million Lashes. It does nothing to separate lashes or volumize. The brush is weird to work with, too because of the heart shape. Smudges. And I was so happy to finally try out one of the Great Lash mascaras. :( (Let's be real: the packaging is adorable).
4. Covergirl Eyelights
CoverGirl Exact EyeLights Mascara, Black Pearl 700 Brown Eyes
This is weird for me, because I tried this before and loved it. I thought it completely lit up my eyes and looked super natural, so when I repurchased it, I was surprised I wasn't as in love with it as I was before. It looks very natural indeed, but that's it: it barely shows up on your lashes. The eye brightening effect didn't work either. I sadly returned this.
5. Maybelline One by One
Maybelline Volum'Express One by One WP Mascara, Blackest Black 265
This stuff isn't too bad, but yeah, it's pretty bad. This has the same effect as the L'oreal. It makes your lashes super thinned out and weird looking. The brush was awkward to use as well. I wasn't sad when I had to throw this out.

In the end, what may or may not work for me might work or not work for you, so if you want to try any product in general, go for it. You can always save the receipt and return it! These are just my experiences.

Argan Oil

Everyone seems to be obsessed with Argan Oil lately... Including me! You can find it anywhere now and in everything. It's in a lot of hair products, skin care, and makeup. It hails from Morocco and comes from a nut off the Argan tree.

It's supposed to be great for moisturizing because of the fatty acids. Some people use it in their hair, some people on the skin (for acne, marks, moisture, etc.). I'm always skeptical of the do-it-all, miracle products, though. How can one plant really fix everything? While I don't think it's necessarily a miracle product, I do think it's really good.

I use a squirt of the Aura Cacia pure argan oil in my towel-dried hair at night. I rub it in my palms, smooth it into the ends and then the top of my head to prevent morning fuzz. I also put a little bit on my lips before night sometimes. Also, when I use a product (like a facial peel) that requires that you don't use any products that contain alcohol after, I use a pump as my facial moisturizer.

I find it does make my hair feel healthier, and when I use it on my skin, it doesn't break me out. (Warning!!! Only use 100% argan oil or argan oil products meant for skin on your face! If you use hair serums like Moroccan Oil on your skin, I guarantee you, you will break out!) However, I only use it on my face at night, because it makes the skin rather greasy.

Definitely give argan oil a shot. It's not going to fix all your beauty problems, but it can help some of them for sure.

Have you tried it yet?

April Favorites

This is my first monthly favorites blog! It's always hard for me to come up with favorites every month because I don't buy much. I've been trying this thing in which I use up all the products I have before I buy anything new in that category, and usually I'll just use something up and then buy its replacement (so that way I'll only have one of each necessity at all times, no random unused products lying about). However, after I've finished something, unless it's a holy grail kind of product, I like to buy something new to try out. For now, anyways, a lot of my favorites have been things I've owned but have just rediscovered or used in different ways.

First favorite of the month is my Smashbox concealer stick that I talked about in my daily makeup blog. I use the shade 4.0, which is dark for me in the winter months, but now that I've gotten some sun, it looks great. It covers my acne and dark spots and blends really easily. I had this hidden away for quite sometime, but I'm glad I pulled it out again.

My next favorite is my CVS feminine wash. I've been using it for a few months now as it's supposed to be used, but I've just started using it as a body wash as well, and it's been so great for my skin.

Yet another CVS product, and possible Holy Grail, is my serum for dark spots. I've never noticed such drastic results with a lightening product before. This feels great on, is hydrating, and really works. Love this.
My bar got really thin. I dropped it and it broke. :( Still usable though.

Lush's solid shampoo bar, Jumping Juniper, is my next favorite. I've had this since last July, but I've not been able to use it as often as I like because I've been at school (I find it hard to take solid products to the dorm showers because I haven't found a good way to store them so they don't melt away). Now that I'm in a place where I can keep my shampoo on a soap saver in the shower, I've been using this every day. I love how easy it is to use and how shiny it makes my hair. The lather is perfection.

I've just recently discovered the awesomeness of the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri topcoat, and I will never be without this again. Like it says, it dries super fast, leaving a glossy finish on any nail polish. Holy Grail, definitely. Nail routine post coming soon featuring this baby.

I've been loving the TRESemmé Climate Control Conditioner lately. It makes my hair really soft and manageable and it smells AMAZING. The only thing bad I have to say about this is that it doesn't completely smooth down the fuzz on the top of my head when I wake up in the morning. Nothing that a little Argan Oil before bed can't fix though, which I've also been loving. Full review on that later, though.

I've been really liking my 24-hour lashblast mascara. It looks really nice and stays put. It's hard to get off, but I've discovered that just using Extra Virgin Olive Oil will do the trick. Careful though: this stuff will smudge on the tops of your eyelids. Again, full review later.

I don't usually wear eyeliner, but I have been a bit more this month. I've had the Maybelline gel one in black for a long time now, and I really love it. It doesn't last all night if you wing it out far, but it lasts long enough. It applies really nicely with my angled liner brush from Target, and defines the eyes really nicely. Glad I pulled this one out of my makeup box.

So again, not many favorites this month, but I'll update you regularly anyway when I find products that are absolutely fantastic.
What are your favorites for April/in general? Have a happy May!!!
