When I was going to get my shoes reheeled last week, I stopped in a pharmacy. I did so to ask for directions, because Seville is basically a labyrinth, and you get lost very easily, but of course I ended up picking up a couple things I needed anyway. My favorite French pharmacy brand, Caudalie, had some kind of discount, so I picked up the Vinosource Moisture Recovery Cream, and the Pulpe Vitaminée Eye and Lip Cream. I've been using them for about a month now, and I love them! They both smell divine, as most Caudalie products do, and they are so incredibly hydrating. The eye cream is lightweight, but it packs a punch on the moisture front, while really targeting all eye problems. The moisturizer smells herbally and is so hydrating. It's too heavy for day use for those with oily skin like me, but I use it at night, and have really been loving it. With both products, a little goes a long way.
I ran out of my Dove body wash and was in search of a more hydrating cleanser, so I popped into Yves Rocher to see what was up. The cleanser smells like a Watermelon Jolly Rancher, and is hydrating, but it's not as effective at removing makeup. I like it as my morning cleanse or my second night cleanse. It reminds me of the Gentle Cleansing Lotion from Avène and the Nuxe Melting Gel Cleanser. I wouldn't buy either of these three again, but it's not bad to the point of not being able to finish.
The body wash is amazing though. From the bottle it smells like actual vanilla that you cook with, and the smell that lingers (for a long time) on the skin smells like creme soda. A little bit goes a long way, and the lather is divine. However, it's slightly drying, so I would pick up the matching lotion while you're at it. Yves Rocher is a really affordable brand in general (like 6 euro for each of these), so you can't go too wrong.
I took a trip to an outlet in Seville and kind of went crazy in Kiko. Kiko is a super affordable brand from Milan (almost nothing more than 12 euro). It has MAC quality and packaging, without the price.
I picked up a bronzer because I wanted something a bit warmer than the one I'm currently using.
I picked up Kiko's Full Coverage Concealer because I saw my favorite French youtubeuse, Pink Laety, talk about it in a video. She gave it a 5/5, so I'll have to see how I get on with it.
I wanted a really bright pink blush to kind of wake up my complexion on tired days, so I picked out the Soft Touch Blush in 101. It's a good blush. It's pigmented (you literally just need the tiniest amount to cover your cheeks), easy to blend, and lasts a good amount of time. On my cheeks, it turned more peachy than that bright pop of pink, so in that sense it's wearable, but it's not the bright pop of pink I wanted. It's actually similar to my favorite Trish McEvoy blush in Natural, but it shows up a lot brighter with less product just because the blue tone pops against my skin.
I picked up this City Filter Sunscreen SPF 50 Primer because I wanted more than the SPF 25 I was getting with my Rimmel BB Cream. I really like this! Aside from the smell (kinda granny-ish and strong), this stuff is great. I use it as my moisturizer in the morning as well, after serum, under BB cream. It's hydrating without being greasy, and it does make makeup last longer and apply better. Unfortunately, it's not very mattifying, but I usually have to blot during the day anyway.
I needed a powder, since I ran out of the Deborah one I was using, so I got the Soft Focus Compact. It's really not that great. First of all, when you put your brush in, it kicks up a bunch of powder, which is never fun. It does have nice coverage, and the color is perfect for me, but it looks heavy, a bit cakey, and it gets oily throughout the day then looks really apparent on the skin. I do have oily skin, but with the Trish McEvoy powders, my skin doesn't get really oily as fast as it does with this, and the Trish ones are basically invisible on the skin while having really great coverage. The Kiko offering is definitely not my favorite.
What have you picked up recently?
