I think those of you who already read this blog will know that I went to London at the end of February. I went to Boots a few times, and the Soap and Glory makeup (and body and skincare) definitely made it into my basket. I've had a while to try all the makeup I picked up out, so I thought I'd share.
First up is my favorite product of everything I picked up, the Archery brow pencil in Brownie Points. This pencil is routine changing. I love it. I use the waxy pencil side to fill in the majority of my brows, then I use the pen side to fill in the tail ends of the brows (because the pencil bit's a little too tick for that area). I then go over them with a spooly. This gives me great brows in no time, and unlike many pencils, this is not too warm. A lot of drugstore brow pencils run way too red, which is a shame since the brows actually have a greenish tinge to them. On that note though, it's also not too grey. Lasting power gets a thumbs up. It's just perfect.
I also picked up the Supercat liner, not because I need liner (I prefer a brush and the Trish McEvoy Finish Line to satisfy all of my liner needs) but because I was so curious considering all the hype this gets. I do like this liner, but it's not great enough to make me repurchase. I find the cat flick I can get with this is really nice, and it's easy to achieve with the pen that's thin, but not so thin you struggle to get a line. However, wear time is average, and if you cry even a little bit (like I do when it gets really windy or I've had a good laugh) it wipes away completely. I think this is good, but it's no replacement for the Trish option I love so much.
I also picked up the It's About Prime eyelid primer. I like the consistency of this (easy to spread and not cakey), and I like the subtle pearly glow this gives the lids. It makes my eye color show up nicely, too. However, a primer is supposed to make eyeshadow last longer, and this doesn't. By the end of the day, my eyeshadow still creases with this under. I don't hate this, but I wouldn't recommend it.
I picked up a couple of the complexion products as well.
I got the Kick Ass concealer because from what I've heard, it's kick ass. First of all, the packaging is just brilliant. It has two levels, one with the One Heck of a Blot powder and a puff to set what you've just concealed, and the other with two shades of concealer, one for the under eyes, the other for the face. This is the ultimate concealer palette for travel. The only complaint I could have packaging-wise is that there's not another mirror on the powder level. Not a big problem, but it would be a nice addition.
The concealer itself is okay. I think they could use another shade thrown into the line. The light, which I have here, is a bit too light for me (Light/Medium is always my safe shade in every brand), but the darker shade was too dark. I'd like a middle option. The concealer doesn't cover as well as my TimeBalm concealer that I'm always banging on about, but it's not bad. I like the left side concealer for the eyes since it's so creamy, but the face one could be thicker to get some better coverage. It's not that cakey though, which is nice.
I picked up the full size of the One Heck of a Blot powder, and I do love this. It's translucent, non cakey, and it does absorb oil incredibly well. Perfect for those with an oily t zone. I would love a powder foundation with the same formula. That would be awesome.
So overall, I am pretty impressed with the Soap and Glory makeup. They have some great budget option products, and I think the brow pencil and the blotting powder are especially great. Now if only Soap and Glory would bring their makeup line to the US...
You can find these products as Boots and Superdrug.
