Lush Skincare: The best and what you should avoid spending your money on

I remember my Lush phase. I would spend hours looking at reviews, hauls, and new products online. I think it was my goal to try basically everything they had to offer. I love most of the products I tried, and I think Lush is a truly great brand. Although none of their products are currently a part of my routine, as they are expensive, I don't have a bath tub, and I've since wanted to try other things, I thought I'd give you my opinions on their products in case some of you are wanting to try out some things.

Although I do think Lush is amazing, the products that I had the most trouble getting into were from their skincare line. However, if you look in the right directions, they do have some absolute gems. These are the three that are worth your money:

1. Grease Lightening
This baby used to be my holy grail of acne products. I went through two of them, I believe. I still love it, however, I haven't been able to go to a Lush Store to repurchase. I would use it as an all-over anti-acne serum or if I had a painful zit, I would dab this on to immediately reduce pain and redness. It's non-drying, and I really do think it's effective at preventing breakouts with all of its anti-bacterial ingredients. If you're acne prone at all, I think this could be really great for you.

2. Tea Tree Water Toner
I love this stuff. Although I know I can mix my own toner with witch hazel, lavender, and tea tree, something about this is just better. It's hydrating, anti-bacterial, and it's just really soothing. My skin looked so good when I was using this, and if you want a toner from Lush, this is the one you should go for.

3. Cosmetic Warrior Face Mask
I have more acne prone, oily skin. When I turned in my 5 black pots for a Fresh Face Mask (available only in stores), I immediately went for this one. As far as blemishes go, this has the best ingredients to clear them up. Garlic, tea tree, grapes, and honey are all anti-bacterial, so they're sure to help reduce zit size as well as the kaolin clay which will absorb oil from the spot. The honey, glycerine, and eggs are all good moisturizers, which is important for acne-prone skin. You keep the mask in the fridge, so it feels nice and cool when you spread it all over your face. Although it is lumpy and you look like a monster for a while, when you wash it off, you'll feel really nice and fresh-faced.

As far as skincare I would stay away from at Lush, it would be basically all of their moisturizers. Almost all of them have cocoa butter in them, so if you have acne prone skin, that's a breakout waiting to happen.

Also, most of their cleansers are dreadful. They do nothing, leave residue, or might be way too rough for the skin. I mentioned Dark Angels as a scrub I loved (and if you like it rough, you'd like it), but I've since moved on to non-physical exfoliators that don't scratch your skin. Maybe you could use it as a mask to help clear blackheads, but aside from that, it's too rough.

I haven't tried their famous Ultrabland cleanser, but the ingredients check out, so if you want to try that one as your first cleanse cleanser (like a cleansing balm you muslin away), by all means try it. I will eventually.

As far as the steamers go (in the toner section), they're just a big faff, and really don't do anything. It takes a ton of time to heat up the water, then you drop the thing in, wait for a while to make sure you don't burn your face, try to sit over the bowl, suffocate from steam and essential oils, then try putting your face over the bowl again. By that time though, the steam and oils have evaporated almost completely and nothing is done for your skin. You'll then proceed to making a toner out of the rest, but you can't keep that for long, and half of the solution is washed down the drain. Maybe you'd want to steep some green tea, pour it into a mister bottle, then drop the tab in the bottle to use as a really concentrated toner, but you won't be able to have that for a long time. I'd say give this a pass still.

So these are just my current opinions on Lush Skincare. I have oily skin, so what work for me may not work for you. Just make sure you read the ingredients, ask for samples, and you should be all fine. Happy Lush Lusting!
