Review: Sleek Brow Stylist (Medium)

The Sleek Brow Stylist was probably the product I was the most excited to try when I went to London a while back. I'm always on the search for the perfect brow product, and a ton of my favorite bloggers rave about the Hourglass Arch thing. I saw this one, and the shape looked so similar. I thought... Dupe?

First of all, we should talk colors. This pencil only comes in three. The first one looked way too light and taupe-y for me (it would be better for the very blondes), and the third looked way too dark (like too dark for anyone). I settled for the middle color, which in my opinion is too warm. It's very red based, which is never a good look for the brows. When I fill in my brows, I like to mimic the shadow that my natural hairs would leave: for most of us that's a green color. Brow products should have a greener tinge. So, Sleek failed for me on the color selection.

Excuse my nails, it was before I painted. Hopefully this gives you an idea of how large the product is....

The pencil itself it also just too large. It's very difficult to fill in small areas in the brows with this. I just find it gets all over the place, and towards the tail ends of the brows, it's just a mess. I wish this were even the slightest bit thinner, that instead of a triangle, this were just a straight line kind of deal.

The formula also isn't dry enough. It's waxy, but instead of hard waxy that's nice to work with, it's creamy and melts upon contact with the skin. On one hand you could blend away mistakes, but on the other, the formula leads to those mistakes.

Also, when I go in with the spooly, the best part about this product, the formula kind of balls up In the brows, and I see little clumps in the brows or flakes that fall onto the brow bone when I'm done. It doesn't look natural at all, and even with the spooly, this gives me scouse brow. No offense to the scouse among us...

The photo looks better than my brows do in person after this, trust me...

So overall, I'm disappointed with this product. I don't know if it's a dupe for the Hourglass or Tom Ford versions because I haven't tried those, but if those pencils are like this, I won't be trying those soon if you know what I mean. I think your money would be better spent on something like the Soap and Glory Archery (I use Brownie Points, and it's perfect). I'd give this a pass.
