A while back I had a bit of a shopping spree and picked up this bronzer from Kiko. It ended up being a little bit dark for me, and the bronzer formula itself is incredibly pigmented. Of course it’s nice to have a pigmented bronzer, but sometimes when a powder color is too pigmented, it gets really hard to work with. I prefer bronzers that leave me room to build up the color when I want to, but also can be applied more subtly. Since this bronzer wasn’t one of those ones, I kind of shoved it to the side for a while. However, I’ve been trying to work with it lately as I’ve been in need of a good bronze, and I’m not going to trade skin cancer for it.
I also mentioned that I picked up a powder from La Roche Posay that I didn’t like. I still don’t like it for all over my face, but I’ve been able to mix this powder with my Kiko bronzer in order to tone it down. Yay for using products up even if you don’t like them!
All I do is roll my bronzer brush (I use the Trish McEvoy 37 bronzer brush - it’s fab) in the La Roche Posay Toleriane powder, then dab the brush in the Kiko bronzer just once. I tap off the brush to get rid of the excess product, then contour as usual. I repeat as necessary until my puffy face looks contoured and presentable.
So yeah, even though not all products are going to be great ones one hundred percent of the time, we can work with them.
If these were products I had bought at a drugstore in the states, however, I would have just taken them back. No use in wasting your money. Unfortunately in Europe they don’t do returns. *sad face*
How do you work with products that aren’t great (but you can’t return) to make them work better for you?
