Review: Marvis Mouthwash

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you'll know I have the strangest obsession with a particular Italian toothpaste brand, Marvis. It's the best working, best tasting toothpaste to ever have graced the planet. So when I was in City Pharma Rue du Four here in Paris and saw the Marvis part of the oral care section, I got really excited. I of course picked up another tube of the toothpaste, but this gorgeous package also caught my interest.

I'm pretty sure this is the prettiest mouthwash I have ever seen. It just feels so luxurious to swig some mouthwash out of a glass bottle, especially when it's Italian.

However, I was still disappointed in the mouthwash. It said it was alcohol-free, so I was expecting it not to sting, but I used it, it stung, then I looked at the ingredients and realized that yes, it does have alcohol in it. Poop.

It does leave your mouth feeling fresh, and it does have some good ingredients like propolis and xylitol, however, it's basically just a glamorous Listerine.

It also isn't going to last me that long either, because after every single use, there's definitely a huge dent made in the product.

I will finish this eventually, however, I won't be repurchasing. It just wasn't that great.

I will be repurchasing the toothpastes, though, because as you all know, I won't put any other toothpaste in my mouth.

What's your favorite no-sting mouth wash?

***UPDATE*** Thanks, Sean for letting us know that you're supposed to dilute the mouthwash before use! (You have to dilute it so it's 1 part mouthwash, 4 parts water).

I did try diluting it, and it did still sting a bit, but it was much more mild, and the mouthwash will last you a lot longer that way. I still wouldn't repurchase, but yes, it is a lot more agreeable.

  1. the mouth wash is concentrated, your not supposed to drink it directly from the bottle, your supposed to dilute a few drops of it in a little water then swish it around your mouth. It burns because your not diluting it in water first.
