Best of 2014 - Makeup

I'm late on this, so let's hope right in...

Best Concealer: Wet 'n' Wild Eyeshadow in Brulée
Not exactly a concealer, but for some reason I had the urge to use this super pigmented matte shadow to cover any dark spots and blemishes. Lo and behold, it turned out to match my skin perfectly, was long-wearing, had great coverage, and blended easily. Of course, this color won't match everyone, but the idea is to use a pigmented matte shadow as concealer. This particular color is a great eyeshadow in any case, and it doesn't break the bank.

Best Powder: Trish McEvoy Even Skin SPF 15 Mineral powder
All-time favorite powder. Has been for a while. Light coverage, invisible on the skin (not cakey/doesn't settle into lines). Love.

Best Bronzer: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil
This was a great find for me this year. (A thanks to Giedre for giving it to me). This bronzing powder is matte but not flat, has the perfect color so it doesn't look too orange or muddy when contouring, it's long lasting, pigmented, easy to blend, and not to mention it smells freaking delicious. Sometimes I'll catch a whiff of cacao throughout the day, and be like, yeah that's just me smelling awesome... A+

Best Blush: Trish McEvoy Blush in Easy Going
Favorite blush of all time. Pigmented but not too pigmented that you can't work with it. Best color ever, goes with everything, long lasting. I'd have sex with this blush. Basically. We'll work out logistics later.

Best in Brows: Trish McEvoy Natural Brunette
Best brow pencil I've ever used. Tip is so thin and perfect for drawing in little hairs, the spoolie is great for blending those hairs out. It lasts all day, looks natural (hence natural brunette), and it takes a grand total of 3 seconds to fill in brows.

This is only a dollar. Fo real. Makes my shadow last all day and go on really pigmented. If you haven't tried this yet/are still wasting your money on any other eye shadow primer....why?

Best Shadow: Trish McEvoy 24 Hr Shadow Liner in Smokey Quartz
So so pretty. After primer (because this doesn't last on me without creasing unless I use the above primer), I'll put a matte brown in the crease then blend this out all over the lid. It's so easy, and my eyes look sparkly and pretty, and compliments go on for days, folks!

Best Palette: MUA Smokin' Palette
Bought this in London. Great dupe for the Urban Decay Smoked palette (which is now $20 at Sephora, I believe). I love pretty much every shade in this baby. It has lots of "one wash wonder kinds of shades," which are basically all I use. They're pigmented, beautiful, and cheap. All the MUA (and Makeup Revolution, for that matter) shadows are great.

Best Liner: Trish McEvoy Finish Line or Trish McEvoy Intense Gel Liner in Deep Aubergine
I don't wear eyeliner all the time, but when I do, these are the best. I'll use the Trish Intense Gel Liner to do my tight line (it glides on so smoothly, lasts all day), then I'll use Finish Line on a brush with any eyeshadow to do my winged liner. Perfection.

Best Mascara: Covergirl Professional Super Thick Lash
I love my Trish McEvoy fiber mascaras and the Dramatic Lash one (amazing brush that feathers out lashes beautifully), but when I'm feeling thrifty, this Covergirl one is my go-to. They changed the packaging, so I no longer have any beef at all with it. It makes my lashes, fuller, longer, separated, and it doesn't smudge. It's easy to remove, too. Perfect and less than 6 bucks (not even on sale).

Best Lipstick: Trish McEvoy Sheer Mulberry
I usually hate anything on the lips aside from balm, but this feels like balm, so it's amazing. It gives the lips a beautiful berry tint, it's glossy, hydrating, and I'm so sad because Trish is discontinuing this. Why??? *Cries river*

Best Lip Balm: Caudalie Lip Conditioner
Way more hydrating than Nuxe Rêve de Miel, feels comfy on the lips, stick packaging. I'm surprised I loved this actually. I tried it before, and it was waxy and didn't work, but I'm pretty sure Caudalie reformulated it, and now it's the best lip balm ever.

Best Tools: Trish McEvoy Brush 40 Medium Laydown
I've always loved this brush for eyeshadow, but I've recently been using it for everything. When I use it for liquid concealer under the eyes, it blends out my "triangle of light" perfectly. Seriously though, every Trish McEvoy brush is my favorite. They're expensive, but that's because they last forever and do all the work for you.

Next post: Hair, body, etc.
