It's been a really long time since I've tried a beauty product that was just absolutely horrible. I tend to research what I buy, so usually the products I try tend to be good, or if not good, not terrible. While searching for a new mascara at CVS, I stumbled upon this one, Maybelline the Falsies Black Drama Waterproof. It did have some pretty good reviews on the internet, and I feel like I've seen some of my favorite bloggers mention it as one they really like. Not to mention Maybelline Full 'n' Soft is one of my favorite drugstore mascaras, so I thought this would be great as well (and that the waterproof would be super long-lasting).
Unfortunately, there are just so many things wrong with this mascara. Let's start off with the brush.
The wand is WAY too flexible. When applying the mascara, it feels like the wand is just going to snap in half, and since it bends so much, the brush can't grip the lashes. The wand just bends and sort of wipes product onto them, then it springs up really quickly. The brush shape is awkward to work with, too, and the short bristles don't grip the lashes either.
The formula is so dry as well. Even the first time using this, it felt like I'd had this mascara open for months. I usually like drier mascaras, but this was so bad for the wear-time and look. The mascara just clumped, flaked, was SUPER hard to remove even though it smudged all over the place just fine. The only good thing about it was that it was very black.
After using this mascara, my lashes just looked stuck together (no definition at all here) and were not at all lengthened (although there was a ton of product deposited onto the base of lashes giving them volume, it just didn't build up length-wise). Removing it at the end of the day was hell, and I lost so many lashes.
This stuff was horrible. I threw it out after a week of miserable use and returned to my Covergirl Professional (non-waterproof).
Sorry if you love this stuff, but it really did not work for me. Waste of three bucks (I got it with a bunch of coupons).
