Review of some not so great products

This goes way back to this summer, that's how bad I've been at posting this semester, but I wanted to do a review on some products I was trying out that I didn't like so much. I know it's been a long time since I've used these, but they really did not work for me, and I remember perfectly just because they worked so badly for me (they stuck out).

First thing that I absolutely hated was the Stridex Maximum (Alcohol Free) "Soft Touch" Pads. I got these because a friend recommended them to me. She said they were great for acne. I'm always on the search for the perfect exfoliating toner, so I tried them out. These are horrible. They BURNED my face, yes, burned. I felt so dry and irritated (they irritated my eyes as well), and I returned these after two uses. Even though it says Alcohol Free, that does not mean they're gentle. When my friend said she liked them for acne, I think she may have been referring to body acne. I can't see how these would be tolerable for the face.

I then tried the Lorac Breakthrough Performance Foundation. Same friend gave it to me because it was too dark for her (she's pretty pale). The color was actually fairly workable for me (and after bronzer, I can make anything too light work, really). My problem was with the application. I thought it applied really streakily and settled into pores pretty badly. It's also a very tacky foundation. I never felt like it set or dried.

It looked somewhat natural on the skin after putting on powder, but I still felt like I was wearing a mask. It was quite heavy. It was also dewier than I like (I have oilier skin), and by the end of the day, the coverage had worn down and oil bled through pretty badly. Coverage was medium.
This foundation just didn't work for me. Maybe someone with dry skin would like it a bit better.

I wasn't expecting anything fantastic from the Be a bombshell Lash out Mascara. Again, same friend got this in her Ipsy but didn't want to use it because of the smell (this was that mascara everyone was freaking out about because it smelled weird). The smell is supposedly due to the fact that it's fragrance-free, but it is pretty bad (I'll take fragrance in my mascara any day now after trying this one). It smells kind of like rotting grass.

The mascara itself was pretty bad, too. First of all, the brush is just horrible. It's no better than one of those trial wands they use at stores for people to just try the product out. It doesn't grip the lashes at all, and it's incredibly hard to work with. It just wipes the lashes with the product.

The mascara is on the wet side, and I really feel like it didn't do anything. It just made the lashes black, and that's it. No volume, no length, a little bit of clumping. That's it. I didn't even leave the house with this on because I felt it looked so bad, so I have no comment on the wear-time. This mascara has no place on the market.

So anyway, these product just didn't work for me. Maybe they'll work for you, but I just don't like or recommend any of them. Hope this was somewhat helpful just in case you guys are looking into these products.
