I don't know what it is, but lately I've been having the worst luck when it comes to mascara. I've tried a few pretty awful ones recently, and for now, I can't even think about trying new ones. I'll just be sticking to the old faithfuls. Here were the ones that turned me off from trying new mascaras forever (maybe).
I was so excited to try this mascara just because it seems like everyone and their mom is in love with it. Maybelline The Rocket did not do it for me at all.
The brush looked promising; it's not too big, the bristles aren't that stubby, and they are well spaced, too. I actually used the brush in my favorite Covergirl mascara just to see how it performed on its. own. It wasn't bad. The biggest problems were, therefore, related to the formula.
For some reason this mascara just gave me gross spidery lashes. With one coat, it didn't really do much to the lashes, but on the second, it just got instantly weird. It smudged very badly as well. I honestly don't understand the hype. I returned this because it was so bad.
The next mascara I had lined up to try was the Makeup Revolution Viper mascara. I ordered from the Makeup Revolution website (their eyeshadow palettes - they have tons of Urban Decay dupes - are amazing!), and I read that this mascara was good. It was cheap, so I figured there wasn't much to lose by trying it anyway.
The brush is like nothing I've ever seen, which is why I wanted to try it so badly. It's in the shape of a snake's head. Cute.
However, it was just incredibly hard to work with because of the shape. I could not for the life of me use this mascara without getting black smears all over my eyelids. It didn't grip the lashes, so I had to wipe the product onto them. The cool looking brush is not worth the struggles. It made my lashes look awful and clumpy, and it smeared so badly. I'd give this a pass if you're ordering from the Makeup Revolution website.
Luckily the Makeup Forever Smoky Extravagant mascara was free. This stuff was awful.
Again, dumb brush. The Christmas tree brush was so ineffective for many reasons. If you can see, there's a ton of product where the brush tapers off. That all gets on the lashes (even after wiping it off), leaving the lashes clumped together. There's also a ton of space in between the bristles, meaning no separation at all. The other end of the brush was just so big, that it was hard to work with. It also made it impossible to put mascara on without getting it on my eyelids.
It also left my lashes with little dots of mascara at the tips (clumps, really), and smeared very badly.
None of these mascaras did it for me. Maybe some people like them, so I'm sorry if you're offended, but for me, they were a huge waste of money.
I shall be sticking to my Covergirl Professional mascara, like usual.
