I love perfume. I feel like scent links so strongly to my mood and my memory, and it's an expression of my personality. I also just want to smell good, but who doesn't want that?
As for scents I like, I do tend to like very floral or musky scents, but there are also some exceptions to that as you'll see here. My favorite notes (which you will see in common with a lot of these fragrances) are jasmine, tuberose, violet, iris, amber, vanilla, and musk.
I store my perfumes in their boxes in a box together so that way sun exposure doesn't change their scents.
Let's hop into the actual perfumes!
DKNY Be Delicious (Dupe from store in Spain)
I love the DKNY Be Delicious perfume, but I could never justify the price since it's not the most different or interesting perfume in the world (it's kind of those "everyone has this" perfumes), and I don't like the original bottle. However, I picked up a 3.4 oz bottle dupe for 10 euro when I was in Segovia. It's the same thing (seriously, I cannot smell a difference), and I can still get my main-stream fruity scent fix.
Notes: American Apple, Cucumber, Grapefruit, Candid Magnolia, Tuberose, White Muguet, Rose, Violet, Sandalwood, Tender Skin Accord, Blonde Woods, White Amber
Vanille from Solinotes Paris
I love this perfume. It smells just like cream soda and evokes some pretty fantastic childhood memories. While it's not the most sophisticated perfume I own (it's really just vanilla-y, nothing else), it's still nice to throw on at any point in the day, and it's cheap (under 11 euro) so I don't have to treat it like precious gold.
Notes: Vanilla
Jennifer Aniston
I usually never go for celebrity scents because it just has always been taboo for me (I just associate Britney Spears or Paris Hilton named perfumes with tackiness, horrible, I know). I also find the bottles to look really ugly, as well. However, this perfume from Jennifer Aniston had to be the exception. It's a PERFECT jasmine scent. It's very nice and light for everyday, but it still just seems subtly sexy. I'm not ashamed to say I wear it or have the bottle in sight. I just really love it.
Notes: Citrus Grove Accord, Rose Water, Jasmine, Violet, Amazon Lily, Musk, Amber, Sandalwood
Diptyque Eau Duelle
This is probably the most sophisticated scent I own. It's a vanilla scent that dries down to a smokier cardamom/black tea base. I would wear this more at night because it could probably get a bit too sexy for everyday, borderline overpowering. This is nice though, because normally the minute I see vanilla in the notes, I'm like, ok, another Pink Sugar (which does smell delicious, I just hate the bottle), but this isn't nauseating like a lot of gourmand perfumes. Diptyque scents are a bit more artistic and not like an overall perfume smell; I can actually pick the notes out in them. It's an expensive brand, but I did get this half off from Hautelook.
Notes: Pink peppercorn, juniper berry, cardamom, cypress, frankincense, calamus, Black ceylan tea, cistus, Bourbon vanilla, vanilla pod, vetyver, cypriol, ambroxin
Diptyque Do Son
Another perfume I bought off Hautelook. I actually bought Do Son and Eau Duelle without smelling first. I just looked at the notes and reviews and hoped. Luckily they worked. I love Do Son. It's straight up tuberose, which is a sweet but not sickly floral. It doesn't have the same depth as Narcotic Venus from Nasomatto (which has a gorgeous ambery dry down under the tuberose, that's sophisticated, feminine, and just plain sexy), but it was cheaper and still is a sexy floral.
Notes: tuberose, orange tree leaves, rose berries, musk
Boadicea the Victorious Pure
I got this fragrance (our old tester) from my work when we stopped carrying it. I liked the history behind Boadicea: it's based off a strong warrior woman who led her army against invaders in Britain. Each fragrance is named after an adjective that's supposed to describe your personality or how you'd like to be. I do really like this scent. It's pretty citrusy, but it has a depth to it that's really nice and keeps it from getting bathroom-y. It smells way better on the skin than in the bottle by the way. It really is intoxicating. The bottle is also freaking gorgeous for that matter.
Notes: Tropical Fruits, Bergamot, Jasmine, Rose, Juniper Berries, Oak Moss, Sandal Wood
Escentric Molecules Molecule 01
This is one of my favorite perfumes I own. Everyone and their cat has this, but it was okay for me as much of a perfume hipster I am, because it adapts to the individual's body chemistry, so it's different for each person that wears it. To me it's kind of musky, yet still light. Oddly, it reminds me of paper. Weird description for a favorite fragrance, but it just makes me happy whenever I wear it, maybe the paper reminds me of reading a good book? I don't know, I'll smell my Harry Potter books and keep you updated with how similar they smell.
Notes: Ambroxan
Clean Fresh Laundry
This is just a deluxe sample I keep around when it's a crisp spring day and I want to feel fresh. This literally smells like laundry detergent. Again, not a perfume I would consider a work of art, but it's nostalgic. It reminds me of when I was little walking around at night with my parents in my neighborhood, and sometimes you'd get that waft of fabric softener coming from someone's basement. I'm so weird. I love it though.
Notes: Brazilian Orange, Mexican Lime, Fresh Mown Grass, Cyclamen, Rose Otto, Night Blooming White Jasmine, Petals, Heliotrope, Musk
Dolce and Gabbana The One
This is my clubbing perfume. I hardly ever wear it (which is why I have the baby size - also great to keep in the purse); I almost exclusively wear this when I'm going out to a frat party or to a club. It's sexy, almost intoxicating, and definitely too much for when there's any daylight. It's not a work of art or anything, but I still think it's different enough from anyone else in the room (it's not like a perfume you can smell on someone and be like "That's Marc Jacob's Daisy, isn't it?" (no offense to Daisy wearers, it's just a popular perfume, and a good example for this situation)). It's got a lot of my favorite notes in there, and it's easy to pick them out, I think (the peach, vanilla, amber, musk, and jasmine stand out the most to me). Plus I also imagine that since ScarJo wears this, I have a chance of smelling like her. I love her.
Notes: Bergamot, Mandarin, Lychee, Peach, Madonna Lily, Muguet, Plum, Jasmine, Vetiver, Vanilla, Amber, Musk
I also have a few samples lying around of which I might possibly purchase the full size fragrance.
Thierry Mugler Alien
I was never a fan of Thierry Mugler's Angel, but I do have to say I quite like Alien. It's very fresh and kind of reminds me of jasmine tea that you'd get at a good Chinese restaurant.
Notes: Solar Accord, Jasmine Sambac, Green Notes, Cashmeran, Vanilla, Transparent Amber.
Trish McEvoy Sexy 4 Gardenia
I love Trish McEvoy makeup, so it's no surprise her fragrances are also hitting the spot. Sexy 4 Gardenia is a perfect floral. It's not sickly sweet, but still sweet enough. Very sophisticated.
I also love the 9 Blackberry Vanilla Musk from Trish. I would totally get the full size of either.
I don't know if I can count these as perfume, but the last time I bought Dove deodorant, I got two of the little Plum and Sakura Blossom body sprays free. They smell good and fresh. It's a perfect fruity body spray. I'm a fan.
Hopefully if you have similar perfume taste to me, you might find one of these is something you'd want to try!
